I love this enamelled copper piece, I got asked so many times over last weekend- ‘What is it for?’

It is something to spark joy when you look at it, a glimmer of beauty and to just be.

We have become a world of needing things to entertain us or have a function, I like to just have things around me that remind me of places I have been to, conversations I have had and the people who I have met.

It was very exciting to get into the container with my measuring tape and then start planning my space!! I think the first thing is going to be coats of white paint and some lino! I have been playing around with my design software deciding where I am going to put everything. Including the workbenches for teaching enamelling as well as silver jewellery making @krowji_ @creativekernowassociates @sineads.silver.design

So after a mad few months preparing our house for sale, getting ready for an exhibition and then moving house myself and my daughter Niamh went on holiday to #lanzarote as my gorgeous husband finished up the final bits involved with the sale.

As some of you know I have ME/CFS which I am now pretty good at managing but every now and then I overdo it and need a complete rest. I never underestimate how lucky I am to have such supportive family and friends around me who help out on those occasions!!

You can’t be 100% sure what the colours will be no matter how many test tiles you do! 99% of the time you get what you planned.

This is the beauty of enamelling copper! Even though I had planned something different for this piece, the way the copper oxides have reacted with the enamel create the impression of a beautiful blue sky with fluffy clouds. Sometimes you just need to know when to stop.

I cannot explain how honoured I feel to have received these awards at this year’s @guildofenamellers conference. It is like the BAFTA’s of the enamelling world. I cannot explain how honoured I feel to have received these awards at this year’s @guildofenamellers conference. It is like the BAFTA’s of the enamelling world. Spent three hours this morning tidying the studio. Before you can enamel anything your workspace needs to be spotless and that doesn’t come easily to me. 🤣 I then can start cleaning the bowls ready to enamel. This is the work that people don’t see!

These will be heading off to @thenorfolkharecollection when they are enamelled.

When your kiln is at 950C and you suddenly realise that the pot is so heavy with all the glass and copper that your grid has collapsed and your paddle is stuck!!

I get a lot of my inspiration from the beautiful sea, rocks and skies in the gorgeous St Ives where my husband is from. We are so lucky to live in the wonderful county of Cornwall.

I want to use the first of these new photos from @paulmounseyphotography to say a few thank yous.

Firstly to @jessica.turrell it was your wonderful course on enamels that began me on my adventure with using enamel on copper.

Huge thank you to Warren @wm.handmade who hand spins all my designs and who also advises me which forms he has that I can use for enamelling as well!

@janeshort_silver_enameller whose course taught me how to prepare all the enamels and so many enamelling skills which I use both with copper and silver.

To @krowji_ for my space in which to work and to my studio neighbours @hubistudio and @squarejawfabrications who make it such a fun place. Also huge thanks to Simon (@squarejawfabrications ) for the polishing advice and all the encouragement.
